Mallard Duck Inspiration

I have a 'Work in Progress' to share. 😊 This past week I have been working on a new Mallard duck design. A pair came to visit our property and I was able to capture them in a photo to share. They look so elegant, which is a word I wouldn't usually use to describe Mallard ducks. 😂 (Perhaps it's the sunlit background?)

I enjoy the elegance of curves, so I wanted to incorporate them into my design. At this point, I haven't decided the end product for him. I've made 3 wings this week, however, I hope to be done with that part. Here's a bit of my process for you to view. Thank God it's Friday! 👍  Thank you for stopping by!

Eastern Cedar Berries and Tomatoes Hand Embroidery - Shop Update

"Eastern Cedar Berries and Tomatoes" hand embroidery designs are now listed in the shop. Both designs in the pattern - I also added the colors of the DMC floss I used here in the photo, but that list is only a catapult for your own creativity!

The Tomatoes piece ended up looking a bit "van Gogh-ish" to me. I really enjoyed blending two colors on each tomato and vine for the effect. When I was working on the Eastern Cedar Berries, I had the idea to make the berries red for a Christmas feel. Adding a red and white whipped back stitch would lend itself to further that Christmas feel, or even red and green! :-D

Eastern Cedar Berries and Tomatoes Design Progress

New designs! I'm currently stitching up two new embroidery designs. I'd say they are "summer" designs, but spring has inspired them. I love close-up shots of pine branches and vines with fruits so I take a lot of them. These designs are directly from my own photos.

I have a couple of Ball canning jars that house my art sponges; they sit on my cedar shelf above my studio work bench. I had been keeping small squares of tee-shirt fabric draped over them to prevent dust build-up, until now!

My Pinterest feed recommended some DIY jar covers and I saw the light! As you can see, a little elastic cover is far more pretty than a functional cut of heather-gray jersey knit.  :D  After I've stitched them up and photographed them, they will be added to my Payhip shop. I will post here under the "New Listing 2025" label.

The Shop is Open!

Goal Met! 👍💫😁

Hello Stitchers! Cedar Cabin Designs is up and running for online business! The goal was set for February 25. The Payhip and Etsy were up and running on February 24, 2025. I wanted to get at least 3 designs created, stitched and photographed to list. The PDF's are ready for purchase and download! The PDF's include the stitches used in the photos and the DMC floss colors, but I encourage stitchers to use their favorite colors and stitches. 😍 Below this writing, I posted some snippets of the stitched designs. I linked the images to their appropriate listing on the Payhip shop, but they are also listed on Etsy.

I played with new-to-me floss (Mouline Etoile, DMC), which I love, and some seed beads. I plan to explore these techniques a bit more in the future. It was a lot of fun!

I have a few more embroidery designs I'm working on currently, and a cross stitch design also. When they're all set for purchase, I'll post here under the label "New Listing". Thanks so much for your time and interest! 💗
